Andrea Cupia
Choir’s conductor
Equipped with great energy and vitality combined with a profoundly refined and respectful approach to the score, Andrea Cupia is a versatile musician with a particular and natural aptitude for conducting. In more than twenty-five years as a professional musician, after having obtained the Diplomas of Horn (1991), Pedagogy (1994) and Orchestra Conducting (2003), he has to his credit a long and intense musical activity (more than 2000 concerts) which have led him to collaborate with countless prestigious Italian and Swiss choirs, chamber, wind and orchestral formations, both as an instrumentalist and as a conductor.
His activity is completed with the creation of both educational and professional musical projects and with the collaboration with Maestro Juanjo Mena, former Chief Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic. He made his debut as a conductor in 2006 at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano, leading the Guido Cantelli Orchestra in Milan with the participation of the famous Russian pianist Vadim Rudenko. Among others, he has also directed the Italian Philharmonic Orchestra and founded the Opera ViVa Orchestra, in Switzerland which welcomes renowned musicians from the Swiss and Italian scene.
